Former Governor Considering U.S. Senate Bid

There's no firm date but a decision is expected soon from former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating. Already, two-term Republican U.S. Rep. James Lankford of Edmond is the first announced candidate.

But other republicans are considering races too, including Oklahoma Speaker of the House T.W. Shannon and U.S. Rep. Jim Bridenstine of Tulsa.

On the democratic side, no stranger to the public eye, but a newcomer to public office. He's Tulsa Attorney, Clark Brewster.

"I see things that are happening in our country that are very disturbing to me. I see a government that's broken, the legislature, in Washington, it's more finger pointing and grandstanding and see who can hold their breath the longest," Brewster said.

While he's not ready to announce it, Brewster says he thinks he already knows something about his competition.

"I really do think they come from the same spot and I don't think that moves Oklahoma up and it's more of the same static in Washington," Brewster said.

Republicans are closing the gap to registered democrats by 30,000 voters. The momentum carries over into the senate race.

"There are literally dozens of possibilities here and we're blessed with the fact that we have a deep bench that's a luxury and in my opinion would do a really good job," said Dave Weston, Chairman of the State Republican Party.
