Suspect Dead, 2 Okla. Troopers Wounded in Gunfire

Posted: Updated:
A gun battle following a pursuit in Del City has left a suspect dead and two Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers wounded.

A spokesman for the patrol, Lt. Brian Orr, says the chase started on an Interstate 35 service road early Saturday and ended near Interstate 40. Orr says that at the end of the chase, the suspect got out of his car and exchanged fire with the troopers.

The suspect was killed in the shootout. Orr says one of the troopers was shot in the face and the other in the leg. Both were transferred to an Oklahoma City-area hospital where they were listed in stable condition. Orr says both troopers were expected to survive.

Neither the suspect nor the troopers were immediately identified. The incident remained under investigation.
