PSO Combats Heavy Winds, Restores Power

Posted: Updated:

Power has been restored to Oklahoma homes after large-scale outages last night as a result of heavy winds and grass fires.

According to Stan Whiteford, Public Service of Oklahoma spokesperson, Tulsans started seeing outages around 10 p.m. last night after the wind picked up and the cold front moved through the area.

Whiteford reported between 8,000-8,500 total outages last night and into the morning and that most of the outages occurred around 2 a.m.

The greatest outages occurred in Sperry, Chouteau and Inola.

Down transmission lines as a result of a large grass fire last night kept PSO from restoring power to the Inola area but power was finally restored around noon today.
