Oklahoma County Sheriff Helps Family Get New Dog

Posted: Updated:

Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel is making good on a promise to help a family smile again after they lost their dog.

A few days ago, the Barrow family's dog was hit during a car chase.

Sheriff Whetsel picked up the adoption fees to get the family a new Chihuahua named "Chili."

"I felt bad for 3-year Ryan Barrow", said Sheriff Whetsel. "You can never replace a pet, but I felt it was necessary that I do something to bring a smile to Ryan's face. I have three dogs and I understand how much they mean to my family, so I just wanted to make sure Ryan had a four legged friend to play with."

Chili was named after Edmond Animal Welfare workers picked him up from the parking lot of a Chili's restaurant.
