Road conditions are improving Monday morning in areas of Tulsa, Rogers and Creek Counties after heavy snowfall this past weekend.

Officials with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation added that residents in Okmulgee County should remain cautious in the southern part with solid ice on the roads. There are reports that cars continue to slide into ditches.

Over the weekend, multiple traffic accidents were reported in the Tulsa area. Certain roadways were closed down due to traffic accidents and hazardous conditions.

Slick roads are being seen in Okfuskee, Seminole Counties, Pittsburg, Hughes and LeFlore as well. In those areas, travel is discouraged unless it is absolutely necessary.

Muskogee dispatchers are reporting that Interstate 40 road conditions have caused multiple minor accidents. Roadways remain slick and dangerous.

Here is the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority's statement on the weather conditions:

"Please be winter weather aware as you make your travel plans. It is OTA's mission to construct, operate and maintain a safe Turnpike system. If you must travel during inclement weather, travel at reduced speeds and keep a safe distance between vehicles. Pack water, blankets, jumper cables and flashlights."
