Cherokee Nation Adds Armored Vehicle To Help Keep Citizens Safe

Posted: Updated:

The marshals of the Cherokee Nation have a new tool to keep people safe.

Their Special Operations Team is training with a new armored vehicle.

It's not just for criminal situations. The primary use will be to help people who get stuck in remote areas because of weather or medical conditions.

"We didn't get this to intimidate, we got this to bring help to people who really, really need help," says Shannon Buhl, Marshal of the Cherokee Nation.

They got the equipment for free through the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

They also have plans to get a smaller version that would help them cross old bridges that cannot hold much weight.
