Posted: Updated:

A Storey Wrecker driver was the victim of an armed robbery attempt Saturday night while on duty.

TPD Sgt. Wes Phelps told KTUL that the driver was picking up a vehicle on the 300 block of 57th Place North when he was approached by a man armed with a 12-gauge shotgun. The man broke out the driver's side window and demanded money before leaving westbound.

Police set up a perimeter and searched the area with canines. They were unable to locate the suspect, described as a black male, 21 to 25 years old, approximately 5'8" to 5'10" and weighing 160-180 pounds.

He was wearing a red mask, brown baseball cap, brown jacket and dark pants.

The driver was treated for minor injuries by EMSA at the scene.
