Grassfires Spark Across Northeast Oklahoma

Area fire departments continue to battle grass fires in Green Country with two of the largest in Ochelata and Coweta.

Strong winds  and dry conditions are fueling the fire danger across Northeastern Oklahoma.


Multiple fire departments battled a blaze west of Ochelata in Washington County.

Several homes were in the path of a large blaze south of Broken Arrow and west of Coweta. The fire was most contatined around 2 p.m.

A smaller grass fire is reported near West Kenosha and East Aspen avenues.


Earlier in the day, firefighters worked on a blaze near Turley. By 11:30 a.m., crews had the fire mostly contained and were working on putting out hotspots.
