Pushmataha Deputies Take Escaped Inmate Back into Custody

Posted: Updated:

Pushmataha deputies have captured one of two inmates that were reported missing earlier this week.

Officials with the Pushmataha Sheriff's Office told KTUL that Michael Avery was taken into custody Monday evening in Choctaw County. This was after he was reported missing from the jail.

Deputies are continuing their search for Clayton Scraper Tuesday morning. PSO stated they believe they know where he is located and expect to arrest him soon.

Initial reports state that both escaped the jail Sunday evening after reportedly overpowering an employee. Both removed their orange jumpsuits and ran into a wooded area wearing only their boxer shorts and white t-shirts.
