Jones Airport Undergoes Runway Construction

Posted: Updated:

The Richard Lloyd Jones Jr. Airport in Tulsa is in the midst of a construction project which will improve the runway.

The area of focus is the intersection where the north, south and east runways come together, said Alexis Higgins, spokesperson with the Jones Airport.

This weekend will mark the beginning of concrete slabs being ripped on the runways and replaced by new concrete slabs.

The concrete being ripped out is equivalent in length to a football field, Higgins said.

Higgins said that customers will not notice any changes or delays and that flight's will operate as scheduled.

The plan for the airport is to be completely done with the project by June.
