Posted: Updated:

Multiple fire departments responded to a house and grass fire earlier this afternoon that began near 1:30 p.m. in Broken Arrow near 51st and Oak Grove Road.

Upon arriving on scene, crews found an outhouse structure fully involved in flames.

The blaze then spread to a residence, Oak Grove Fire Department assistant fire chief Paul Summers said.

The fire spread through the attic and badly damaged the home.

Summers reported that the home was nearly a total loss due to the fire.

The flames also burned ten acres of land behind the residence.

Summers stressed for Oklahomans to be mindful of what they're doing with fire in these dry and windy conditions, and to keep flames away from flammable areas.

Rolling Hills Fire Department, Oak Grove Fire Department, Broken Arrow Fire Department, Wagoner County Fire Department, Wagoner County Emergency Management and Catoosa Fire Department all responded to the fire.
