Speaker At TU Focuses On U.S. Trade With Mexico

Posted: Updated:

The University of Tulsa is focusing on the business relationship between the U.S. and Mexico.

The former U.S. ambassador to Mexico, James Jones, was the keynote speaker at an international breakfast Tuesday.

He outlined the impact of the North American Free Trade Agreement involving the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

Jones shared his views on the problems of the new oil and gas ventures in Mexico.

He says everyone could benefit if Oklahoma was exporting more.

"What trade does is not only increases the size of the economic pie, but it allows more people to get to know more people on a business basis and then a personal basis, so it improves relations," Jones says.

He says Mexico is one of the world's best new markets.

Jones' law firm focuses on all kinds of international trade and finance.

Williams Company and the Tulsa Hispanic Chamber sponsored Tuesday's event.
