Tulsa Firefighters Brave Winter Weather to Fight North Tulsa House Fire

Posted: Updated:

Tulsa firefighters are braving the bitterly cold weather and snow to fight a house fire in North Tulsa.

The fire broke out near the 700 block of N. Xanthus around 2:45 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters at the scene said it was initially unclear if anyone is inside. They report the house was heavily barricaded and gaining access is difficult. They confirmed just before 6 a.m. that there was no one home.

TFD said the weather is posing several challenges for crews. Water lines and other firefighting gear is freezing. Authorities have called in a few additional trucks to be sure firefighters have the breaks and equipment they need.

Crews are using ladders to shoot water downwards onto the roof where flames continue to burn.
