LeFlore County Sheriff Continue Investigation After Double Homicide-Suicide

Posted: Updated:

Initial reports state Monday morning that three people found dead after a house fire in LeFlore County died as a result of a double murder-suicide.

Deputies with the LeFlore County Sheriff's Office were called out the residence last week near Whitesboro. The town is located southeast of Tulsa.

Sheriff Rob Seale told the Associated Press that investigators believe 30-year-old Jacob Custard killed his mother and stepfather before setting the house on fire. He then shot and killed himself.

Investigators added that they may not be able to determine an exact cause of death for Edith Custard and Lawrence Schlienz due to the severity of burns their bodies received.

Seale said that Jacob reportedly had mental health problems and had stopped taking his medication.

It was not determined where the fire originated in the home. Or how it was started.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
