City-wide warrant sweeps conducted last week brought in over $280,000 for the City of Tulsa.
The Tulsa Police Department reported that 445 citizens with outstanding warrants on city citations and misdemeanor charges came in to clear their warrants. Over 1,000 warrants were reportedly cleared.
The warrant sweep was a chance for citizens to come in and put themselves on the docket, go before a judge and hopefully get reduced fines and avoid jail time.
Jillian Roberson of TPD said the warrants are great for both the City and and its citizens because citizens can avoid jail time and the City collects a healthy sum of money.
The warrant sweeps did not include those with felony warrants.
