Family and Community Rally and Protest, After Officer Shoots and Kills

Posted: Updated:

The investigation of a police involved shooting has now entered it's fifth day. But the family of the man killed is speaking out.

Police are not saying much, as they investigate. But the family of Deandre Starks is speaking about what they believe  happened.

Community members and family gathered at city hall this morning. Their goal was to find someone who would listen.

They are concerned that the officer that shot and killed Stark also used deadly force and killed another man in 2011.

Starks' mother believes her son was murdered. Police say the officer fired the fatal shot, after Starks made a threatening motion.

Vanesta Starks says she does not believe that.   "But to  know that my son was shot when his hands was up in the air, surrendered. He tripped over a rail and that was the body movement. I know the story. I  just want to know if somebody will come tell me why," said Armstrong.

Police  reported that there were no guns in the house, where they were serving a search warrant.  They did say they found drugs.
