Posted: Updated:

An teenager accused of murdering a woman in Jenks in 2012 pleaded guilty Friday morning.

Both sides for Joshua Mooney's case returned to a Tulsa courtroom for a scheduled hearing. It was there that the 15-year-old pleaded guilty to first degree murder.

Court records indicate that Mooney's jury trial was scheduled to begin in May. He will now serve two life terms plus an additional seven years.

Mooney's case began in December of 2012 when Jenks Police discovered 47-year-old Mary Escue dead at her parents' home. Investigators stated that Mooney shot and killed Escue in the head when she returned to the home where he had broken into during a reported burglary.

Previous reports from KTUL state that Mooney said he grabbed change, money from the victims wallet and took the car. He handed the gun to another person who he'd recently met and was also picked up when Mooney was arrested.
