One Possible Lead After Skull Found at Turkey Mountain

Posted: Updated:

The top of a human skull was spotted Friday evening at Turkey Mountain by a hiker.

The skull was reportedly found near a campsite and is believed to be the skull of a white female between 30 and 50-years-old.

Tulsa police reported that there were no obvious signs of foul play on the skull and no other bones were located.

Detectives have been scouring through missing person reports from years past to see if anyone fits the bill and they have one possible lead. Detectives have been in touch with that person's family but have no way of knowing for sure at this point.

Investigators are done searching the area for other bones or clues for now according to Tulsa Police Department homicide detective Dave Walker. Walker said detectives are done searching until new information comes up because the area is to wide to search.

Detectives are hoping the Medical Examiner's Office can somehow pull DNA off the skull.
