Posted: Updated:

At about 1:35 a.m. Saturday morning, a Tulsa Police officer happened upon a dead motorcyclist on the roadway.

The deceased male, John Bannon, was found laying next to a maroon Harley Davidson near 11th and Garnett.

Sergeant Robert Rohloff with the Tulsa Police Department said the victim was heading north on Garnett, made too wide of a turn onto Skelly Drive, then hit a curb, lost control, struck a street sign and fell backwards onto the ground.

The victim was reportedly not wearing a helmet, and hit his head on the street. He was pronounced dead on scene.

The victim was believed to have been following another motorcycle when the crash occurred.
