Yale School Doors Remain Closed After E. Coli Found in Water

Posted: Updated:

School doors remain closed Tuesday in Yale after a water sample tested positive for E. Coli last week.

Officials have been updating residents through Facebook after news broke that a sample taken at the sewer plant tested positive. The town is located west of Tulsa in Payne County.

A Facebook post from the City of Yale announced that school would remain closed Tuesday as a precautionary measure. The town remains under a voluntary boil order since the sample turned positive.

City Manager Richard Adams told KTUL last week that the sample was the only positive one discovered among others that were collected. The voluntary boil order remains in place until test results confirm that the water is safe to consume.

Additional water samples were sent Saturday to a lab in Stillwater. Adams also said he has been in close contact with the Environmental Protection Agency.

Residents that want to remain cautious until results return should bring water to a full rolling boil for a minimum of one minute.
