Lockdown Lifted at Gilcrease Elementary after Alleged Threat

Posted: Updated:

Gilcrease Elementary School was placed on a precautionary lockdown for approximately 30 minutes this afternoon after receiving word of an alleged threat made to a student.

Tulsa Public Schools spokesperson Chris Payne said the threat was allegedly made by someone in a vehicle near the school, who claimed to have a gun.

TPS police officers responded to the lockdown, which began around 3 p.m. The suspect that allegedly made the threat had already left the scene on the arrival of the police, and the lockdown has since been lifted.

Payne said that at this point TPS has no hard evidence that a threat was made, since they were unable to catch the alleged suspect.
