Fleet Feet Run Benefits Boston Marathon Victims

Posted: Updated:

On the day of the this year's Boston Marathon, Tulsa runners are running in remembrance of last year's victims in Boston.

Fleet Feet Sports is hosting a tribute marathon near both Fleet Feet locations. Those who come to the downtown location will walk or run through routes in downtown Tulsa and those who come to the store near 61st and Yale will walk or run though neighborhood's west of the store.

Shirts saying "We All Run Boston" will be sold at the tribute run for $30. All of those proceeds will benefit OneFund Boston.

Tim Dreiling, co-owner of Fleet Feet Sports, said the event is more of a Fun Run type of atmosphere, not a race. Dreiling was "amazed" at the turnout last year when he said about 1,000 people showed up to support Boston.

"The Boston Marathon is really important to the running community," Dreiling said. "It's the pinnacle event. People aspire to it, and they have to qualify for it. For it to be targeted by a terrorist attack hits home with a lot of runners."

Runs from both stores will begin at 6 p.m. Monday.
