6th Grade Teacher Arrested for Sexual Assault

Posted: Updated:

A sixth grade teacher at Thoreau Demonstration Academy has been arrested on a sexual assault complaint.

41-year-old Brian Drabek was arrested for four counts of lewd molestation of a child under the age of 16.

Tulsa Public Schools confirms that the teacher was arrested on Thursday while on campus. Tulsa police are investigating four separate complaints of misconduct with a 12-year-old student.

Drabek is listed on the school's website as a science and math teacher.

He has been suspended with pay. Drabek has been employed with the district since 2001, district officials said.

Tom Padalino, the principal at Thoreau, sent a letter home with parents informing them of the arrest.

"I wanted to make you aware of a situation that occurred today, so you are not caught off guard if you hear about it on the news. This afternoon, Brian Drabek, a 6th grade teacher at Thoreau Demonstration Academy, was arrested by the police on charges of sexual assault.

An investigation is currently underway. At this time, we are unable to provide additional details. Mr. Drabek has been placed on paid suspension until further notice.

Please know that we take charges like this very seriously, and are doing everything we can to cooperate with the authorities."

Investigators are asking anyone with information on this case to call Crimestoppers.
