Sapulpa Man Arrested after Brief Pursuit, Standoff Early Sunday

Posted: Updated:

Tulsa Police booked a man they suspect to be Jason Wayne Husman of Sapulpa after a pursuit and standoff around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

A Riverside officer reportedly observed the man run a red light near 4700 South Yale and then followed him onto Interstate 44 westbound. The officer then activated his emergency lights, but the suspect allegedly sped away, passing cars on the left shoulder.

After a short pursuit the officer pulled the suspect over near I-44 and Harvard. At that point, police say the suspect rolled down the window of the vehicle and threw the keys out. But he allegedly refused the officer's command to get out of the vehicle and sat in the vehicle for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, an arrest team approached the car and removed the driver from the vehicle. The driver allegedly resisted arrest for the duration of the arrest and booking process. Police say he was "very intoxicated and hostile" to officers.

At the time, police only had a tentative ID on the driver because he did not have any identification with him and refused to identify himself.

Police think the vehicle may have been stolen, but also believe the owner of the vehicle may have a relationship with the suspect and did not want to cooperate with police.

The suspect was booked into Tulsa County Jail being held on $21,100 bond.
