Plane Crashes in Nowata County, No Fatalities

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has confirmed a single-engine plane crash in Nowata County.

The Federal Aviation Administration told KTUL that the plane was a Beechcraft BE-36 that was trying to fly to Claremore Regional Airport when the pilot reported engine trouble.

Not long after the pilot's report, the plane crashed into a wooded area.

According to OHP, the plane crashed near the intersection of County Road 406 and County Road 5 north of Wann.

The Nowata County Sheriff's Office confirmed that there were no fatalities. Three people from Alabama were reportedly on board the plane and they all survived with injuries. The crash was reported at 1:29 p.m. Sunday.

The pilot, identified by an OHP collision report as Paul Woolard, 50, was transported by ambulance to Coffeyville Regional Hospital and then flown to Saint John Medical Center in critical condition with head injuries.

A passenger, Randy Watson, 54, was transported with head an trunk injuries in critical condition to Saint John Medical Center by helicopter after being taken to Coffeyville Regional Hospital.

Another passenger, Ryan Bozeman, 25, was admitted at Coffeyville Regional Hospital with internal trunk injuries in stable condition.

The FAA will investigate the incident.
