Broken Arrow Firefighters Battle Blaze at Workshop

Posted: Updated:

Broken Arrow firefighters battled a blaze at a family-owned workshop Wednesday morning.

A family member noticed smoke coming from the workshop around 7 a.m. and called firefighters to an address near S. 209th E. Avenue and E. 41st Street.

Channel 8 spoke with the owner's son, Warren Murphy, who grew up helping his dad build things there. Several family members stay on the property, near the shop.

"Like he'd build chicken coops and play houses and little like picnic tables and stuff. It was fun and, you know, he enjoyed it," Murphy said.

Murphy said his father's tools and other belongings are essentially a total loss. The shop was not insured.

Murphy thanked the firefighters for stopping the flames before they could reach the homes.

Investigators are working to determine the fire's cause.
