Two Juveniles Taken into Custody for LeFlore School Threat

Posted: Updated:

Two students were taken into custody Thursday morning after a threat to a LeFlore County school turned out to be fake.

Dispatchers at the 911 center in LeFlore Conty were notified early Thursday morning about the threat to the LeFlore school. It's located east of McAlester and south of Highway 270.

Officials with the LeFlore County Sheriff's Office told KTUL that the student told 911 they needed to get officers to the school quick. He reportedly sounded "stressed" during the phone call.

At the scene deputies cleared the building and canvassed the area for the alleged threat. Choctaw Tribal Police and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol assisted in the operation.

After further investigation it was determined there was no threat to the school or children. Officials were able to locate the juvenile that made the phone call and apprehend him and another unidentified juvenile.

Officials with the LCSO told KTUL that they will proceed to file criminal charges against the juveniles for making the threats.

Activities at the school returned to normal later this morning. Officials will continue their investigation into the incident.
