City of Tulsa Announces New Mulch Site

Posted: Updated:

The City of Tulsa is moving its mulch site to a larger location as of June 11.

The home for the new site will be a 400-acre property at 2100 N. 145th E. Ave. In 20 years, the City of Tulsa has had to move the mulch location five times.

The acreage of the current mulch site, at 10401 E. 56th St. N, is only 50 acres and has been the mulch site in Tulsa since 2005.

The City is acquiring a new mulch location now because beginning this year, a permanent location for rock and dirt disposal was needed or additional costs would be incurred to the city.

The City of Tulsa reports that the current mulch site served over 60,000 customers in 2013 and produced 395,360 cubic yards of mulch from yard waste.

The site will be open from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. seven days a week. Tulsa residents will continue to be able to dispose of yard waste for free.
