TCC's Board of Regents Names School's Next President

Posted: Updated:

Members of the Tulsa Community College Board of Regents named the schools fourth president Tuesday during a special meeting.

Leigh Goodson will replace Thomas McKeon who will retire from his position this summer. Her appointment was made during the meeting at TCC's Southeast Campus.

"As Regent, our goal is to select a future leader for TCC who will honor the values and successes of the past and chart a new course for the future as a two-year community college with strong partnerships and students as our focus," TCC Board of Regents Chair Ron Looney said. "Goodson is extremely qualified with a background as an administrator and faculty member."

Goodson is the first female president for TCC and the first female president of "one of the state's three largest higher education institutions."

Before being named the next president, Goodson has been serving as vice president for Research and Institutional Advancement at the Oklahoma State University's Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa. She also serves on Tulsa Public Schools board for District 5.

Officials with TCC stated that Goodson was selected after a seven-month, nationwide search involving community and college representatives. Richard Shrubb and Ann Valentine also were considered.
