Judge Sets 2015 Jury Trials for Brothers Accused of Killing Women

Posted: Updated:

Two brothers appeared in a Tulsa courtroom Monday morning for their alleged roles in the murder of four women at a south Tulsa apartment complex in 2013.

Cedric Poore and James Poore were charged with four counts of first degree murder on February 21, 2013. Both are accused of killing 23-year-old twins Rebeika Powell and Kayetie Melchor, 33-year-old Misty Nunley and 55-year-old Julie Jackson.

Both men were scheduled for arraignments and pleaded not guilty to the charges. During their appearances the men requested jury trials that begin early next year.

KTUL reported last week that the Tulsa County District Attorney would not seek the death penalty for the two men, adding that "the crimes are tragic and it has emotionally impacted each of the families who lost loved ones. But, at the end of the day, we must objectively consider a wide variety of factors, including the admissible evidence as well as the legal issues involved."

Police stated the Poore brothers lived in the same apartment complex as their four victims, who were discovered bound and shot in the head.
