A jury trial process is beginning Tuesday afternoon for a Tulsa man accused of killing his mother at her south Tulsa home in 2013.
Both sides in Henry Laird's trial returned to a Tulsa County courtroom to begin jury selection. He faces a first degree murder charge for reportedly beating his mother, Linda Laird, to death with a shotgun in 2013.
Court records indicate that Laird has previously pleaded not guilty, but that his attorney is recommending a plea deal in the case. Jury selection is expected to resume Tuesday afternoon.
KTUL reported in 2013 that family members found his mother dead on the floor at the base of a staircase. Laird and was taken into custody with Josiah Sklar blocks from the where the incident took place.
Police stated that Sklar was arrested after a witness told them he was present during the murder. He was charged with accessory after the fact.
