Bear Rescued from Tree in Broken Arrow

Posted: Updated:

Wildlife officials rescued the bear from a tree in Broken Arrow, Friday afternoon.

The bear was first found laying up in a tree Thursday in Wagoner County and then left the tree in the middle of the night.

Officials have located the bear in another tree and were in a better position to get it down.

The Fire Department was called and the bear was successfully rescued with their ladder.

Residents in the area first spotted the bear in the tree near 245th East Avenue and Highway 51 in southeast Broken Arrow.

Officials notified KTUL Friday morning that the bear was able to come down late Thursday evening. He did go into the trap they had and crews didn't spot him so they were not able to capture him.

Crews were patrolling the area and searching for him in the trees. Officials say it’s mating season for bears so bear sightings will be more frequent.
