Okmulgee Church Celebrates 111 Years of Service

Posted: Updated:

Eastside Baptist Church celebrates 111 years of service to the Okmulgee Community, this weekend.

According to Pastor Jeffrey, Eastside Baptist Church was founded in 1903 as Zion Bethel Church in another building, but was later constructed in 1921 into the two-story brick building that is there today.

Eastside Baptist Church is one of the oldest churches with generations of community service in the Okmulgee area.

It was listed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1984 (#84000307).

Members have planned a Family and Friends Picnic, Saturday morning at 11 a.m.

They are having a basketball tournament, food, snacks and fellowship.

The celebration continues on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. with guest speaker, Reverend Larry H. Smith from Macedonia Baptist Church in Muskogee.

The events will take place on church grounds at 219 North Osage in Okmulgee.
