One Dead after Accident in Muskogee County

A Friday night collision in Muskogee county left one person dead and two 1999 Dodge pickup trucks in a ditch.

The accident occurred on State Highway 16 and County Road 204 in Muskogee County at approximately 8:22 p.m., the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.

OHP reports one vehicle was eastbound on Highway 16 and the other was heading westbound. When the westbound vehicle attempted to turn southbound, onto County Road 204, the eastbound vehicle entered its pathway on Highway 16 and was struck by the westbound vehicle on the passenger side.

As a result of the collision, the two vehicles ended up in a bar ditch.

OHP reports both vehicles involved were 1999 Dodge pickups. The driver of the vehicle that was struck on the passenger side, George Morgan, 59, of Morris, was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, Michael Whisenhunt, 46, of Checotah, was treated and released.
