Overnight House Fire Displaces Three, Sends Firefighter to Hospital

Posted: Updated:

Three Tulsa residents were displaced from their home following a heavy fire overnight Saturday.

The fire occurred on the 1600 block of West 46th Street South at approximately 3 a.m.

A spokesperson with the Tulsa Fire Department said the home's occupants were not home at the time of the fire, but arrived shortly after fire crews arrived on scene. Three were displaced and Red Cross was called in for assistance.

Crews reported heavy smoke and fire in the rear of the structure when arriving on scene but were able to knock down and put out the fire within a few minutes.

During the cleanup phase of the fire, one firefighter was transported to the hospital for being overheated. He was treated and released.

"It's not uncommon at this time of the year with the high humidity," Jose Ariza with TFD said. "If a firefighter gets overheated, we make sure to get them to the hospital to get treatment."

Investigators are still on scene working to discover the cause of the fire.
