Miami Memorial Day Ceremony Honors Veterans

The City of Miami hosted their annual Memorial Day ceremony this morning on the G.A.R. Cemetery grounds.

The ceremony was conducted by the American Legion (Post #147), Marine Corp League (northeastern Oklahoma Detachment), Vietnam Era Veterans of of America and the 4 State Friends of Veterans.

A patriotic ensemble and "Amazing Grace" were performed by the Associate Pipers for the City of Tulsa Pipes and Drums.

Boy scouts helped place approximately 2,000 flags on veteran's graves.

"The cemetery staff looks forward to and works toward Memorial Day every year," Cemetery manager Kim Horn said. "It truly is a special day of remembrance and fellowship spent with family and friends."
