Muskogee Woman Found Guilty of Plotting Ex-Boyfriend's Murder

Posted: Updated:

A jury found a Muskogee woman guilty Tuesday on accusations that she hired men to kill her ex-boyfriend.

Both sides in 51-year-old Kenna Morrison's case returned this week to the Muskogee County courthouse to continue her jury trial process. She was charged with solicitation of first-degree murder after she was arrested in 2013.

KTUL learned that a jury returned to the courtroom with a guilty verdict for Morrison. Jurors began the sentencing phase, but were not able to reach an agreement and postponed until September.

Morrison had previously pleaded not guilty for allegedly hiring two men to kill Dewey Easom. Opening statements in the trial began Monday after members of the jury were seated.

Investigators have said Morrison and Easom had fought and Easom kicked her out of their home and that Morrison wanted Easom's veteran's benefits and insurance money, according to the Associated Press.

Morrison was arrested after one of the men she approached notified police and their conversations were later recorded.
