McAlester Police Searching for Blocker Man Accused of Raping Teen

Posted: Updated:

Pittsburg County authorities are continuing their search this week for a Blocker man accused of having sex with an underage teen.

An arrest warrant was issued for Rafael Ibarra in May out of the Pittsburg County courthouse. He faces a first degree rape charge for an incident that took place in March involving a 14-year-old McAlester girl.

Court documents allege that officers with the McAlester Police Department began their investigation after being notified by the teen's mother. She stated that her daughter initially told her somebody had broken into their home and raped her, but that her story was a lie.

"[She] could tell she was lying so she got the story out of her and [the teen] finally told her," the affidavit describes. The teen told officers that she met Ibarra at a local church and had gotten close with him.

According to the affidavit, Ibarra came over to the teen's residence and both began kissing and hugging. At the same time he began attempting to undress her, which the teen was initially uncomfortable with because she thought her mother would hear them.

The teen stated that she gave in and had sex with Ibarra who left a short time after they were done. She told officers that she wanted to continue seeing him and that's why she made up the first story.

Ibarra is reported to still be living in Blocker located northeast of McAlester. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact the MPD at (918) 423-1212.
