Two People Killed in Creek County Crash

Posted: Updated:

Two people were killed in a crash on Highway 51 in Creek County.

Wayne Anderson, 71, Yale, and Herman James, 79, Enid, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

According to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Anderson was driving his pickup westbound on Highway 51. James was driving his pickup and travel trailer eastbound when Anderson's pickup truck crossed the center line.

James swerved to the right and was struck by Anderson's truck on the eastbound shoulder, the report from OHP described.

Both drivers were pinned in the trucks and had to be extracted using the Jaws of Life.

A passenger in James’ car survived was treated and released from a Tulsa hospital.

An earlier version of this report incorrectly stated that James was the driver who crossed the line.
