After a sizzling start to the week, some relief is on the way. A more unsettled weather pattern will return the next few days, and showers and storms will be possible through early next week. A nearly stationary front in southern Kansas will drift south in the coming days and impact the weather over northern Oklahoma. It should provide enough instability to produce scattered showers and storms through Monday.

There is the potential for isolated severe storms each day, but the main threat will be wind, hail and heavy rainfall. Areas north of I-44 may receive the highest rainfall totals. Some model data through Sunday shows a few areas could receive at least 3 to 4 inches, especially along the OK/KS state line, but other models are estimating 1-3 inches in the same area. Either way, our northern counties could receive generous rainfall over the next few days providing much-needed moisture to areas dealing with extreme to severe drought conditions.
