Tulsa Tax Revenue Up, But Still Below Estimates

Posted: Updated:

The City of Tulsa’s tax collections are up this month but still below estimates for the year.

The city’s sales tax revenue from mid-April to Mid-May was $19.7 million, a 5.9 percent increase from last year.

“We are encouraged that sales tax collections this month are up compared to a year ago,” Mayor Dewey Bartlett said in a press release.

“Careful budgeting still is needed, however, considering that we are barely above a one-percent increase from last fiscal year. We’re hoping to see continued growth in our local economy.”

Year-to-date tax collections are up 1.2 percent from last year, but remain 2.1 percent below the budget estimates.
