TPD: Man Waiting to Get into Party Shot in Face

Tulsa police have arrested a 21-year-old black male on suspicion of shooting a person in the face overnight in the parking lot of 2200 South Garnett.

Police say a large group of people were gathered at that location and they were becoming unruly as they waited to get into a party at 2117 South Garnett. Police were called out to control the situation at approximately 1:07 a.m. and shots were fired before police arrived.

Police reported that the crowd had dispersed when they arrived. A suspicious vehicle was pulled over at 2600 South Garnett that was believed to be connected with the area of the shots being fired. A small stolen handgun was found in the vehicle, police say.

At the same time, a victim of a shooting arrived at Saint Francis and police learned the victim had been shot at 2200 South Garnett. The victim was shot in the face and it was initially believed the wounds would be fatal.

Homicide detectives conducted several interviews and police report enough evidence was gathered to arrest the driver of the stopped car 2600 South Garnett.

The suspect was identified as William White. He was arrested on complaints of shooting with intent to kill, shooting from a vehicle, possession of stolen property and a traffic warrant. He is being held on over $100,000 bond.

"Tulsa police patrol did an excellent job in stopping the shooting suspect amongst all the chaos at the scene. It has been reported that the victim will survive his injuries," said homicide sergeant Dave Walker.
