Edmond Earthquake Town Hall Meeting

Posted: Updated:

Edmond residents will get the chance to voice their concern about the growing number of earthquakes in a town hall meeting tonight.

There were at least three earthquakes in that area overnight, ranging from magnitude 3.4 to 3.8.

Not far away, residents in the town of Spencer saw some damage to homes last week when a 4.2 quake hit.

Even people on this side of the state could feel that earthquake.

Oklahoma has had nearly 150 earthquakes from January to May this year alone.

Most are too weak to cause damages or endanger lives.

Now many want to know if it could be connected to hydraulic fracturing.

The Edmond meeting tonight will include the state agency in charge of regulating oil and gas drilling.

Texas and Kansas are also addressing the issue of frequent earthquakes and what the cause could be.
