Monet Exhibit Comes to Philbrook Museum

Posted: Updated:

The Philbrook Museum has a new display of Claude Monet's. The display focuses on his interest throughout his career in the Seine River in France.

There are 16 total pieces of Monet's at the museum.

Monet was a impressionist painter that was interested in natural phenomenon. He lived near the Seine River and was interested in qualities of light, different seasons and different times of the day. These aspects often appeared in his work.

A spokesperson with the Philbrook said this is the first of Monet's work that has come to the museum.

Monet was one of the first painters to do a series of paintings that were concentrated on one particular subject. He did a lot of his painting from a studio boat that he built, which allowed him to get closer to and get additional perspective on the landscapes around him.
