GuitarControl.com released a new video guitar lesson from GuitarControl.com instructor and creator, Claude Johnson. In this guitar lesson, now available on YouTube.com, Claude Johnson teaches how to play power chords on guitar.

(PRWEB) July 03, 2014

A Power Chord on a guitar is a two-note chord consisting of the root note and the perfect fifth of the major scale. Sometimes called the fifth chord, these chords are a key element of rock music.

I want to give you a quick lesson on the power chord, or rock chord as it was called when I was growing up, says Johnson. Its a great sounding chord and goes great with distortion.

Claude plays many varieties of examples of the power chord in this video lesson and says that it is a fast way to get rockin. Claude demonstrates the G5 power chord as follows; 3rd fret of the 6th string with first finger, 5th fret of the 5th string with 3rd finger, and 5th fret of the 4th string with 4th finger. The great thing about power chords is that this same shape can be moved around anywhere on the neck, and can be moved to other strings as well without having to change the chord shape. They are great for rock and metal music because, since the interval is perfect, it is not defined as major or minor and is neutral to the sound of a song. Johnson demonstrates an easy way to rock out with power chords by playing the chords based on the notes of the pentatonic scale, which he demonstrates in the key of G. Guitar TABs are available for this easy beginner guitar lesson at GuitarControl.com.
