POSITION SUMMARY: The Meteorologist will prepare and deliver on the air weather forecasts based on sound scientific principles, conduct some science and/or environmental reporting in the field, and handle special weather programming. This person must work in cooperation and direction with news program producers, Executive Producers, and the News Director, must follow format and viewer-centered philosophy of content presentation, produce weathercasts and assist as needed, and use severe weather tools effectively including Doppler Radar and storm tracking technology. Also, this person is responsible to present weather information accurately and in a manner that will be interesting, informative and entertaining to the viewer. Must present weather in a manner that has the public safety in mind at all times, and helps lead storms and tornado chase teams, and helps maintain the website daily. Performs other duties as needed and assigned.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS. Three (3) years of demonstrated success as a television news weathercaster is preferred. College degree required, prefer environmental sciences or meteorology. American Meteorological Seal preferred. Ability to establish and work within program format, make quick and appropriate decisions, and gain cooperation from others. Possess strong and accurate verbal and written communication skills and excellent organizational skills. Must be able to perform under stressful and or time sensitive situations.
