Congressman Bridenstine to Tour Ft. Sill Immigrant Housing

Fort Sill -

Congressman Jim Bridenstine says he has been invited to tour the facilities holding illegal immigrant children at Fort Sill on July 12th.

The invitation came after Bridenstine was denied access to the facility on July 1st.

At that time the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services which manages the facility said an opportunity would be available July 21st.

In a news release, Bridenstine says he will be there on the 12th and also make other unannounced visits. He says, "Ordinary Americans have a right to know what is happening in these facilities, how the children are being treated, and what is being done to stop this human tragedy."

There are currently more than 1,100 illegal immigrant children staying at Fort Sill. His statement continues, "The President has created this tragedy by failing to enforce border security. He is going to ask Congress for $2 billion tax payer dollars, not for border security but rather to expedite the process of illegal immigration."

Bridenstine is also asking for more transparency and access for himself and other members of Congress.
