PALO ALTO, Calif., July 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Mynd Calendar, the powerful iOS "smart calendar" from Alminder Inc., today announced it has released a new version of its free, award-winning mobile smart calendar and scheduling app. The latest release includes significant improvements for free users, as well as the introduction of a paid upgrade called "Mynd Premium," which is available through in-app purchase on the App Store.

Mynd not only helps you manage your day, it also learns where you spend your time and who you meet along the way, leveraging advanced artificial intelligence to deliver a calendar experience that improves with use over time. Mynd acts like a virtual assistant, saving you time and making life easier at home and work, and it now helps you set goals, measure your progress and form good habits.

The new version of Mynd continues to sync with your existing calendars, contacts, Evernote account and LinkedIn account to deliver a seamless and contextually aware calendar experience that facilitates one-click conference call dial-in and gets you to meetings on time.  Mynd's latest features also now allow you to directly search for the contact details of meeting attendees inside LinkedIn, as well as in your iPhone contacts. The new release includes several other unique features:

  • In addition to the attendees and people that Mynd discovers in events, you can now tag additional people who were at a meeting, creating a handy reminder of who actually attended.
  • You can share Evernote notes with others – including meeting attendees - directly from the calendar.
  • Mynd now gives you the ability to create and assign categories for your events, giving them custom labels, icons and colors.

"When Mynd recognizes an activity on your calendar that fits in a category based on keywords or location, it will begin to auto-categorize that event," said Max Wheeler, CEO of Mynd. "For example, when Mynd recognizes a calendar entry with the words, "breakfast," "lunch," or "dinner," it will be tagged as "dining." As you begin to categorize events, Mynd will learn about what the keywords in your appointments mean. So, if you regularly tag a calendar entry called "Zumba" with the tag "exercise," Mynd will begin learning that Zumba is a type of exercise."

The Mynd premium upgrade, which is available on a subscription basis as an in-app purchase, takes Mynd one step further by introducing an innovative set of functionality called "Inside Mynd," which allows you to easily visualize where your time is going, who you're spending it with and where you've been.  With Inside Mynd you can even set goals so you can make sure you have time for what really matters.

According to Wheeler, with Inside Mynd, you can categorize events in your calendar that map back to your goals and people that are relevant to that event."For example, if your personal goal is to exercise five times a week, you simply carve out five hours a week on your Mynd calendar to workout, assigning those events the category 'exercise.' At the end of the week, Mynd will chart how much time you've spent exercising. Likewise, if you are a professional services consultant, you can use Mynd to keep track of the number of hours you're spending with clients by creating a category with each client's name and attaching it to each meeting you attend on related business."

Mynd Premium also includes features that allow you to:

  • Track the miles you drive for business, and easily export that data into a spreadsheet.
  • View a list of past events you've attended with specific people.
  • View a list of locations you've visited in the past and which events were associated with them.
  • Get real-time traffic-based time-to-leave alerts (previous users of Mynd will continue to get this functionality for free).
  • Access priority support that gives premium customers fast turn-around time on support requests via email.

Additional new features available in the upgraded free version of Mynd include:

  • The ability to create a Mynd "Account." Benefits of creating an account include:
    • Making it easy for all users to migrate the data and settings within Mynd between iPhones.
    • Offering you the ability to subscribe to Mynd newsletters, hints and tips.
    • Giving Mynd Premium users the ability to export data from Inside Mynd (including mileage and goal tracking statistics) to spreadsheets.
  • Support walking to events (the current version includes driving).This is one of our most frequently requested features, and it is especially useful for users in urban areas.
  • Ability to view information about the people you're meeting from your iPhone contacts as well as on LinkedIn.

The basic version of Mynd is available for free on the App Store, and all users receive a 14 day trial of Mynd Premium.  When the Mynd Premium free trial expires, you may choose to purchase a subscripton via an in-app purchase or revert to the free version of Mynd.  Subscriptions range in price from $6.99/month to $49.99/year, depending on the number of months purchased.
