EMSA Assist Seven for Heat Related Issues, Cooling Centers Open Across Tulsa

Posted: Updated:

EMSA medics have issued a heat alert for Tuesday. They have treated seven people for heat-related symptoms. They are expected to be OK.

Four cooling stations are set up around Tulsa for anyone to come cool off:

The Salvation Army Center of Hope

102 N. Denver Ave.

Tulsa, OK 74103

24/7

Tulsa County Social Services Cooling station

2401 Charles Page Blvd.

Tulsa OK 74127

8:30 am - 8:00 pm

Dennis R. Neill Equality Center

621 East 4th Street

Tulsa, OK 74120

Noon to 9 pm 7-days a week

John 3:16 Mission

506 N. Cheyenne

Tulsa, Okla. 74103

24/7

Anyone planning on being out in the heat needs to make sure to drink plenty of water and electrolyte drinks hours before and during any heat exposure. Do not drink alcohol or caffeine.

Light-colored clothing that is loosely fitted is the best option, and a wide-brimmed hat will provide shade.

PSO has assistance programs for high cooling bills for anyone worried about the financial burden of staying cool.

Also, be sure to check on elderly neighbors and those who are working outdoors.

And never leave a child or a pet inside a car for any reason.
