Troopers Begin Search for Possible Body in LeFlore County Lake

Posted: Updated:

Oklahoma authorities have begun searching a LeFlore County lake for a possible homicide victim this week.

Troopers with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol were at Lake Wister Thursday afternoon looking for the body of a 17-year-old female that was possibly dumped after a reported murder. The lake is located southeast of Tulsa near Poteau.

Information from KTUL's sister station, 40/29-TV, states that the LeFlore County District Attorney's Office is leading the investigation. No information was given on who they are searching for at the lake.

Officers gathered around the lake and search on foot. Nothing was recovered during the initial search, but authorities will return Friday.
